Physics 11 Quantum Physics - under construction

This is one of our four optional units of which we must complete two

Our goals for this unit are similar to the goals for the unit on relativity.

In this unit we are hoping for an appreciation instead of a deep understanding of the topic. If you think you understand it you likely missed the important points. If you think it is weird and makes no sense then you are likely on the right track. This is a mind bending topic. The reason these topics are so hard to understand is because we have no experience to guide us, we never go any where close to the speed of light.

Assignments

Read "Six Easy Pieces" and then explain in one page what the big deal is about the double slit experiment. Note, this is not relativity but an article on quantum physics. This piece is widely considered the best explanation of the double slit experiment and is a transcription of a lecture given by Richard Feynman.

Read a chapter(s) from "In Search of Schodinger's Cat" and give me a one page summary or media report or prezi or similar. I have a copy, just ask.

Read a chapter(s) from another classic Physics book. You might enjoy the "Tao of Physics" and give me a one page summary or media report or prezi or similar. I have a copy, just ask.
